 Every year Golf GTI fans gather in Reifnitz at Wörthersee for five days of Mardi Gras in May to talk, shop, showcase and dirve the GTI! Its been a tradition by Volkswagen to unveil new GTI variations at this GTI-Meet event. This year is no different. There are automobiles, and then there are automotive icons – classics with a glorious past and an exciting future.

The Golf GTI is such an icon. Over 1.7 million have been sold since the car’s debut in 1976. In just the sixth year after the launch of the Golf GTI, its community of fans had grown so large that it sought a common platform, or to put it simply an event, to talk shop, showcase and drive the GTI. That is how the GTI-Meet in Reifnitz at Wörthersee came into being in 1982. Since then, fans have been meeting in the Austrian state of Kärnten for five days of Mardi Gras in May. It is already time to meet again. One of the traditional highlights: unveiling of the new GTI variations. Debuting as world premieres this year are the Golf GTIadidas – an exclusive model whose sales will launch in June – and the Golf GTI Excessive, a concept car implemented in a stylistically refined motorsport look.The new Golf GTI adidas and the GTI concept car will be accompanied by two GTI classics: the first generation Golf GTI (1976) and the Golf Citi Mk1 − a last edition, limited to 1,000 units, of the first generation Golf whose production has just been phased out in South Africa. Porsche 911 GT2 RS

Volkswagen Phaeton 2011

Volkswagen Phaeton 2011 was unveiled for the first time at China Auto Show in Beijing. The Phaeton will be available with a choice of two wheelbase options, two back seat versions (three seats /two individual seats) and four engines (a turbo diesel and three petrol engines). Powered by the turbo charged common rail direct injection 176 kW/240 PS engine, the Phaeton V6 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 8.6 seconds and has a top speed of 237 km/h.The Phaeton will be available with a choice of two wheelbase options, two back seat versions (three seats /two individual seats) and four engines (a turbo diesel and three petrol engines). The six, eight and twelve-cylinder engines range in capacity from 176 kW /240 PS to 331 kW/450 PS. The standard drive unit used in the Phaeton is a V6 petrol engine producing 206 kW /280 PS. At the capacities above the V6 FSI the choices available are a V8 and a W12 petrol engine, delivering 246 kW/335 PS and 331 kW /450 PS respectively. On the diesel front Volkswagen is offering an extremely frugal and smooth-running V6 TDI. In Europe it is the most frequently selected engine for this car. The turbo charged common rail direct injection engine delivers 176 kW/240 PS and accelerates the Phaeton V6 (top speed in this case 237 km/h) from 0 to 100 km/h in just 8.6 seconds. This is accompanied by average fuel consumption that has now been reduced still further to
just 8.5 litres per 100 km (equating to 224 g/km CO2).

Chevrolet Captiva LTZ 2011

Chevrolet Captiva LTZ 2011 features 18" alloys, 7" Satellite Navigation unit, privacy glass, reclining flat-folding rear passenger seat, ABS, ESC, traction control, unique rear light clusters and a 4-star crash rating. Overall, a nice packaged common consumer SUV.

The camera operates through the 7-inch satellite navigation unit display screen. This uses simple touch screen technology to allow fast and safe access to the many features of the unit, which range from Points of Interest to a postcode search facility. USB and SD card inputs provide additional sources for music and video clips.Both manual and automatic options are powered by the 150PS 2.0 litre VCDi diesel engine. Combined fuel economy figures are 38.2 mpg for the manual and 32.8 mpg for the automatic. The manual emits 197 g/km of CO2 and the automatic 225 g/km.
